SOPHIE

For the Girls don't Cry festival I wanted to create a fresco paying homage to Sophie Xeon, who left us two years ago. Feminine icon of electro, mother of hyperpop, I had discovered her while listening to Yelle's Motor Action remix in 2016 which had completely turned my brain. Since then I had assiduously followed all of her releases. She managed to take my ear to unknown places and violently fill my heart with vivid emotions. I wanted to give her a place at this festival, so as not to forget her, and so that those who loved her could see her as if we had never said goodbye to her, just like we never said goodbye.

For this fresco I made two stencils, the first of Sophie's face and the second a symmetrical texture allowing an all-over inspired by the twisted shapes of the Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Inside cover.
